News from Warton Stock Car Club

2nd September 2010

I have just got back from the Committee Meeting, its 12:30AM so here is what we have decided.

SUPERS: Will continue to race until the end of the 2011 season, however if the number of cars substantially increase during the season Supers will continue in 2012. If this is not the case, the formula will be replaced in 2012.

CHAMPIONSHIP Races (all classes) Prize Monies for First £30 Second £20 Third £10

Firsts in Heats and Grand Nationals get £20

No prize for mechanics

All class drivers MUST BE MEMBERS & HAVE DONE THREE POINTS SCORING MEETINGS TO QUALIFY TO RACE ON CHAMPIONSHIP DAY

No practice on Championship Day --- Be ready for the parade laps instead.

DISABLED AREA is for cars to get an unobstructed view with disabled persons in. Please do NOT stand in the way of spectators who are unable to leave their vehicles.

All drivers are reminded that they must hand in their scrutineering tickets in to race control before they race.

Thanks to all who brought and raced the caravans on Sunday, more so for keeping to the two lap parade before racing started, we were well impressed.

Thanks also to the clean up crew who had not just the usual 1st corner pile up to tidy, but the ENTIRE track was covered in little bits of caravans.

Last, but certainly NOT LEAST, a massive GET WELL SOON to both Nina & Becky who were hurt in the Ladies Races. Nina has a cracked rib & Becky is still in hospital awaiting results of scans on her leg

16th August 2010

All meetings at Warton are points scoring for Bangers, except Metal Mania & Team Meetings. NOTE The Caravan Race is none points scoring, but the rest of the day is. Also it counts as one of your three for Championship day, if your a member that is.

There is a change of the 1400cc banger meeting to a 1500cc 26th September (excludes larger cars, if in doubt ask)

If you have a Trophy/Sheild that needs returning, PLEASE DO SO AT THE NEXT MEETING!!

28th July 2010

There will be an EXTRA Junior Rookies Meeting on the 26th September.

HESP - Domestic Rules.. No follow ins, Drivers Door or Turning around.

BANGER VANS - All banger vans are advised to have a four point rollcage in the cab area following the accident last Van meeting. Note this is a must if the roof is fibreglass.

Drivers are reminded that overalls are to be kept on and zipped up at all times while on the track. Also all drivers must keep helmets on until they get to the designated safe areas.

26th November is the Presentation Night at the Carleton Rooms in Morecambe.

I have had some issues updating the site. I'm hoping they are now solved.

6th June 2010

26th November is the Presentation Night at the Carleton Rooms in Morecambe.

NEXT MEETING - We will hold an early practice session for the NEW Ministox drivers only, to get a feel for the track & try starting & stopping, normal practice therefore will be a little later.

STOCK CARS - Tis the Gerry Blundell Memorial Meeting on Sunday with £ 100 for the biggest points scorer on the day with a furter £ 50 & £ 25 for next two highest points scorers. A big thank you to the Blundell Family for their support in this event.

SUPERS - A rule has been agreed to allow Monedos to race in the Supers class as long as they have a four point roll cage & it passes the scrutineering of John Riley, also this cars must show a letter B on the rear so other drivers are aware its not a full Super.

BANGER VANS - All banger vans are advised to have a four point rollcage in the cab area following the accident last meeting. Note this is a must if the roof is fibreglass.

27th May 2010

Not long untils Sundays racing.. Banger Vans, 1400cc Bangers, Junior Rookies all racing along with Stock Cars, Ministox, Senior Minis & Supers. Plenty of races 25 to get through so we need to get lined up on time.

NOTE the banger side has been changed to just be individuals & not teams..

The points & results are up now, they were delayed as I was waiting for paperwork for an appeal after # 58 Laura Duckett was deducted points & places from the last race meeting following the find of a funnel inside the pipes of her car next to the restrictor. The committee decided this was a rule break and removed her from the meetings results. Since then the Duckett family have insisted it does not enhance the performance of the engine and were going to send proof after tests on a rolling road. These tests havent arrived as of yet so I have published the results today. Note if the appeal is successful Laura will be reinstated.

In the Banger class we also had an issue resulting in # 114 Willy Walmsley receiving a two meeting ban for a second offence of following in at a domestic meeting. Banger drivers are reminded that follow ins are not allowed at domestic meetings and are told so EVERY TIME they go onto the track.

Sernior Minis, car # 61 Stephen Troy had his engine checked & everything was found to be OK and above board.

7th May 2010

Its been a busy week.

We held a meeting regarding the Supers at the New Holly on Tuesday night. There were quite a few ideas though most were 'chucked out' the two that remained were:
Allowing 'banger style' cars to join in, subject to having a 4 point cage with Fuel tank & battery within the cage. Chicken bars on drivers & passengers side. These cars MUST be at least a Mondeo and if the driver likes it the car must be brought up to SUPERS spec within a period of time.
Using none slick tyres... This was less popular, but it was agreed that # 4 Nick Holyes would have a go with them on his car in a practice session as soon as possable.

On the NEXT RACEDAY we will have a meeting for SUPER drivers at the Interval at the Exit Gate.

Wednesdays committee meeting saw us rattify the above and decide, after the massive success & positive feedback from all quaters, to hold a seconde NON MONDEO BANGER MEETING on the 27th June this year. We will also be giving a prize for Best tin & paint job to try and get some more olde cars on the track.

WARton of the ROSES is filling up a little now. Vans are to be Panel Vans only (Transit or bigger). Please book in asap

Banger drivers, we will now have a marshal, or myself, walking the grid before each race to check gloves are being worn, please hold up hands, palms out, when requested.

22nd April 2010

Great racing from all classes last time out, good to see five visiting drivers from Buxton in the Senior Minis. Best wishes to the folks who had their family jewels rearranged in a couple of crashes on the day.

Just to clarify, at an earlier meeting I was told Vetras can't race as they are like Mondeos, I mistakenly thought this would be the same for the Non Mondeo meeting, it appearrs I was wrong. so I apologise for any confusion.

The SUPERS have decided to hold a meeting for ANY INERESTED PARTIES regarding the future of the formula at Warton.
John Riley writes:

Meeting for people interested in racing super bangers

There is a meeting at the New Holly pub on the A6 at Garstang 8pm on 4th May 2010. THIS IS A OPEN MEETING FOR ANYBODY OF ANY CLASS FROM ANY TRACK WHO IS INTERESTED IN RACING SUPERS AT WARTON. I am after suggestions in ways to increase the super banger numbers. After speaking to different people here are a few
1. run on road legal tyres on standard rims or maximum width rim
2. change direction of rotation of cars
3.allow drivers with banger spec cars to race with the supers providing role cage is a minimum of 4 point with the understanding that if they like supers they slowly modify the car to supers.

These are just suggestions if you have any of your own you can either put them on here, turn up at the meeting or ring me to discuss them. Also where are all the old super banger cars that people used to race - does anybody know ?
Thanks John contact 07977543112

Philippa, Graham and myself will also attend.

ROOF FINS... Its a hard enough job lap scoring but its less than helpful when so many cars do not adhere to rule 36...
ROOF FINS MUST BE EITHER WHITE WITH BLACK NUMBERS OR BLACK WITH WHITE NUMBERS.
Some cars have really nice looking fins, but with growing numbers of cars in classes, its making it increasingly hard for them to be counted for each lap. Drivers may no longer be counted for any laps if their number is unreadable as it does not comply with rule 36.

HELMETS.. If its plastic your no longer allowed to race. This is an insurance issue, if theres an accident & a plastic helmet 'fails' we are not insured for that driver. This is because our insurance is through ORC ( indirectly ) and that is their rule.

SENIOR MINIS If any of OUR Senior Mini drivers think I have not broached the issue regarding the Buxton Championship fully, would you please let me know. I have mentioned it more than twice in the program, on this site & mentioned it at a good few drivers meetings, the Committee & myself felt there was nowhere near enough interest from the Warton track to continue pursuing it.. Use the Guestbook.

8th April 2010

Ok then here goes, a few bits.

The Committee confirmed the NON MONDEO Meetings are 2nd May and the HESP.

The Senior Minis joint Championship seems to be a non started, Buxton informed.

Remember Fireproof Gloves & Fibreglass helmets are not an option, they are a rule now. You have one more meeting to get it sorted. Also the Juniors ( Ministox & Junior Rookies ) MUST from now on have disks in there wheels, many clear ones are in place and look great.

BTW this site is a solo run site, and will remain so, yes it has 'gone to pot' a little at the moment, but I need to spend more time concentrating on the Chairmanship so there is a club to race at.. So please keep bearing with me. Thank You.

4th April 2010

What an amazing day... Thanks to all who turned up to race, help out or watch. I noted that the Bangers seemed to keep their oil in their cars, unlike the Supers, Stock Cars and Senior Minis, even the 'Rollover Queen' managed to drop some oil after her second roll in her second race of the Season. Im a lil usure about the 'hanging basket' that was put up by Glen Lord early in the day, though it seemed to bring him luck as he got two wins and only missed out on a third after a minor tangle, and may come to regret a pose I did for Martin ( www.no97.co.uk ) with the plastic watering can. The bangers were again high in numbers, compared to many other tracks, and gave us some great racing and some epic wrecks. Next time its 2LTRS so lets see what they bring.

The £ 65 membership price has been extended to Sunday. After racing finishes on Sunday it goes to £ 85.. So you best get sorted.

21st March 2010

TRACK DAY IS NEXT SUNDAY from 10AM.. Help us make Warton look perty for the Start Of The Points Scoring Season on EASTER SUNDAY.

The 1400cc Team meeting went well with over 50 cars in 15 Teams... It is a shame it clashed with a big banger meeting at Belle Vue ( I'm hoping the Levellers & the Barton Boys did well) This also seemed to affect the gate, but it was still an excellent meeting. Action was thick & fast and the speed of the bangers was frightening at times. We had some classic wrecks and some hard fought racing.. All in all a great day.

The Results are:

1st Krazy Krew A 48 Points
2nd Northern Bangers 46 Points
3rd Northern Mongs A 45 Points

Best painted team Bong Gang A
Best Tin 181 Jordan Cadman & his Morris Minor

BTW Apologises for lack of updates at the mo.. Join Twitter for quickkies.. But what with being Chairman now and running an increasingly busy games shop & other stuff my time seems to be very limited. NOT THAT I WOULD CHANGE ANYTHING!!! So bear with me while I get myself more organised...

7th March 2010

17th Feb 2010

A big thank you to all of you who turned up tonight to register, it was good to see a few new faces too, I meant to come and introduce myself, but got waylaid enroute. If you didn't make it, feel free to contact me and I will post a registration form to you ASAP. Please note BOTH METAL MANIA & the TEAM MEETING will be hectic at Race Control, so applying by post is going to be quicker and mean you can take advantage of the saving to be had before the end of March.

Neil Fitton, & Kay, were at the club tonight with a selection of gloves.. Remember these are compulsory from now on in all classes, but must be flameproof. They started at just £25 a pair and went down a storm. There will be some for sale at the Track Shop on Race Day and NFR will also be attending Metal Mania too, also giving advice on helmet regulations and discs for steering wheels. I have ordered a set of overalls for myself at Metal Mania and will not think it funny if there is a competition to see who can first 'dirty' them.

Please note the dates on here are the dates I added entries and not dates of events... Like I have been doing the last ten plus years ;-)

If your thinking of entering a banger into Metal Mania please book in ASAP. (NO MONDEOS OR VECTRAS).Thanks... Note if you leave a voicemail message on my mobile, you are not booked in! Also I have had NUMEROUS requests to publish the names of the drivers and will do so, on the booking in page, on Monday 1st March (unless a driver asks me not too). So far we have 15 confirmed in and many more unconfirmed (More I think than this time last year).

If your booking in a team for the Team Meeting, please do as you will not be allowed to race if you 'just turn up' on the day.

16th Feb 2010

I am going to try & bring some information regarding the Transponder system to the Registration Night. Realistically I'm thinking that the Minis (both) and the Stock Cars are the main classes that this would be advantages too. That said I'm still thinking its a way off yet, but will be the way forward in the near future. Once transponders are fitted to cars, barring any major accident, it need not be touched again for around ten years, that's according the guy I spoke to today about them.

If your thinking of entering a banger into Metal Mania please book in ASAP...Thanks... Note if you leave a message on my mobile, you ain't booked in!

12th Feb 2010

Don't forget the Registration Night is this Wednesday at 8PM, ExServicemens Club Carnforth. £65 if you join on the night, or before end of March. From 1st April it will be £85. You can send cheques to our POBOX, via contacts page. I can post out application forms after Wednesday, but we really need as many as possible to pay on the night.

Wendy, off of the Track shop, will be there with a selection of fireproof gloves to have a look at, and maybe buy or order. All drivers will be required to have Fireproof gloves to race this season. Approx cost is £25.

7th Feb 2010

So this is it a new year, new season, new look site & a new Chairman.

I am looking forward to the challenges ahead this season and hope we can build on what has been a very good few years for the club under the Graham Hayhurst reign. Graham is staying at Warton and will be the Clerk of the Course on Racedays and pass on his knowledge from the past years of helping run the Club.

It is VERY important that ALL BANGER drivers book in ASAP for Metal Mania & 1400cc Team Meeting so we can work out a racecard for the day & get your names in the program.
As has been requested, I will not post drivers names on the lists. Unless I'm told otherwise..

Don't forget the Registration Meeting 17th Feb 8PM in Carnforth..Ex Servicemen's Club. £65 if you join before the 1st of April £85 from then onwards. Two photos please and also if your a Ministox driver, bring your birth certificate. We also need a parent or guardian to be a member too.

One thing I said at the AGM was that I wanted us to think of all drivers who race at Warton as their main track as WARTON DRIVERS. No one, as far as I know, who races, lives in Warton, I live 50plus miles away, so lets just say we are all Warton drivers/supporters.

I am looking at having a colour poster in the centre of the programs and am wondering if any of the advertisers would like a colour advert, for a slightly higher cost, on the back of said poster. Its at costing stage at the moment so this is just putting feelers out there.

The site has gain been rejigged, this is to make it more like an advert for the club rather than a fan site etc. The idea is to get more folks to visit for the first time and hopefully get hooked, like the rest of us ;-)

I will be going to a meeting, representing Warton Stock Car Club, in a few weeks. Its on a Saturday and means I have to close my shop for the day. That is not a problem, but it will lose me some trade so if any of you want to buy games off me (I can deliver to the track or post (free of charge) when items have been paid for) my accountant and I will be very grateful. I may consider game trade-ins on raceday if organized.
